Varta used to design Varta CP1254 A4X with a Current Interruption Device (CID) as safety feature. During the development of the CoinPower A4 generation Varta have designed out this cell feature as standard. For the cell designation this has been taken into account by adding an "X" to the cell designation, e.g., CP1254 A4X Reason for this change is that state-of-the-art PCMs handle overcharge much better than in the past. At the same time, the risk of unintended CID breaks (drop test) can be eliminated.
